about

Noya Sol, a unique Israeli blues phenomenon, brings to life the original, classic women's blues, a la pioneering blues queens Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey.

It is almost a surprise to discover – behind the gentle frame, the black dress and the golden microphone – a deep and powerful rootsy voice, somewhat pained and elusive, which throws the listener back in time, to the early 20th century. It carries memories of those black women who found themselves free – for the first time in history. Those women who were given a taste of legal, economic and sexual freedom, only to discover that their long hope-for liberty does not prevent pain – it merely allowed you to take care of yourself a best you can.

The discrepancy between hopes and reality gave birth to Sol's new music: evocative, penetrating, beautiful and honest. No masks. "survival," she points out.

“With a tight red skirt and mile high heels, Johnny's love and Johnny kills me all night long More and more, and more, and more pain”

Sol's new single, "Johnny's Love" is an original tune, with both music and lyrics by Sol. The song paved Sol's win in the Israel Blues Challenge, where she was chosen to represent Israel in Memphis' IBC in 2018. These days Sol and her combo are making the rounds of Israel's stages, both big and small, as well as blues and jazz festivals.
Her second album is due on February, with an official launch on March, at Tel Aviv's Kuli Alma.

lyrics

They call me, and they tell me
Promiscuous girl they call me
With a tight red skirt and mile high heels
Johnny's love and Johnny kills me all night long
More and more, and more, and more pain

And more approach In the night
More lovers in the morning
More and more, and more, and more disdain,
People look and they can talk
But to me It doesn't matter
Another glass of wine, another drunk
More and more, and more and more shame
More and more, and more and more watching my life go down the drain.
